Supported living
Living independently, supported.
Care and support for adults living in their own home, alone or shared with others. Support is planned around the person, not a set routine.

An example day
What support can look like.
Every plan is different. This shows how support might fit around one person’s day.
Morning routine
Personal care, getting ready and medication, as agreed.
Shopping and cooking
Planning meals, a trip to the shops and making lunch together.
Out and about
College, work, an appointment or time with friends.
Home and money
Household tasks, paying bills and planning the week.
Overnight and on-call
Overnight support where assessed, and on-call help any time.
Illustrative example. Your support is set by your assessment and support plan.
Everyday support
Help with the things that make a home work.
Depending on your assessment and agreed support plan, support may include:
- Washing, dressing and personal care
- Planning meals, shopping and cooking
- Managing medication safely
- Household tasks and daily routines
- Budgeting, bills and benefits
- Appointments and health services
- Education, work and community activities
- Friendships and cultural or religious connections
We support you to do the things you can and want to do for yourself. Independence does not mean managing without help.
Your home and costs
Your home and your care are separate.
Before support begins, we explain what Involvement Support will provide and which costs sit outside the care package.
Your care package
- Support hours agreed through assessment
- Personal care and daily living support
- Skills building and community access
- Overnight support, where assessed
Usually paid separately
- Rent and household bills
- Food and personal purchases
- Activity costs
- Transport and equipment, discussed individually
If a shared home is being considered, we also look at the needs, preferences and compatibility of the people who would live there.
Planning support
Built around your routines and goals.
We consider your routines, communication preferences, health needs and personal goals. The level and timing of support depend on your assessment, agreed funding and our ability to meet your needs.
Understand the person
Your home, routines and support needs.
Agree outcomes
A practical plan with you and the people around you.
Review and adapt
Support changes as your needs change.
Overnight support
Support through the night.
We provide overnight support based on assessed needs and the agreed care package. We discuss the level and arrangements for overnight support during assessment.
Our on-call service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Questions
Supported living FAQs
Answers to the questions we are asked most often.
Do I need to find my own home?
Not always. Some people already have a tenancy, and others are looking for one. We can talk through housing options and work with landlords and housing providers.
Is supported living the same as a care home?
No. You live in your own home with your own tenancy, and support is provided to you there. You keep control over your home and routines.
How many hours of support will I get?
It depends on your assessed needs. Support can range from a few hours a week to support throughout the day and night.
Can I live with other people?
Yes. Some people share a home with others and some live alone. We consider what will work best for you.
